Frequently Asked Questions and TestimonialsWho is Bob Pandolfo?: Bob Pandolfo, a.k.a. "Pandy," has been writing about harness and thoroughbred racing and handicapping for over 30 years. His popular "Pandycapping" column has appeared in many publications, including The Daily Racing Form, and Sports Eye. He has also been published in Hoofbeats magazine, American Turf Monthly, and other publications. His Pandycapping columns appear regularly on the United States Trotting Association's website at www.ustrotting.com. At the USTA site you can also find Pandy's Meadowlands picks and "line," horses to watch, track variants, and other potent handicapping info by clicking on the Handicapping link www.ustrotting.com/handicapping/pandolfo/pandy.cfm What is The Diamond System?: I wrote the Diamond System based on my own handicapping principles that I developed over the years. I found that I was always looking at final times, pace, and final quarters...comparing horse vs. horse and looking for horses that ranked high in all 3 categories. Eventually I decided to develop a numerical method of ranking these three factors. At first, all the work had to be done with a calculator. A few years ago we put it all together in a computerized software program that accepts downloads from Trackmaster www.trackmaster.com, and Bris www.brisnet.com and Daily Racing Form www.drf.com versions are also available. The program automatically does all track to track conversions for shippers, makes adjustments for track variant, and allows the user to make trip adjustments. The method actually breaks each race down into fractional splits of a 1/16 of a mile, but produces "compounded" ratings which incorporates early, late, and final time speed into one powerful rating. The system actually prints out 3 sets of numbers, early pace, late/final speed (final quarter and final time), and the Diamond Rating. The system comes on a CDROM, and includes instructional booklet. To view sample printouts, or find out how to order the Diamond System, click the Systems & Services page. The THOROUGHBRED DIAMOND SYSTEM is actually two systems in one, because you also get THE FORMULA (4 unique ratings) ratings in the printout. What is Pandy's SHARPHORSES SELECTION SERVICE? - Pandy's SHARPHORSES SELECTION SERVICE for thoroughbred racing offers Bob Pandolfo's daily picks for New York (AQUEDUCT, BELMONT, SARATOGA) and Southern California (DEL MAR, HOLLYWOOD, SANTA ANITA) circuits. Subscribers get full-card picks, plus analysis of *Preferred Plays* and **Best Bets**, along with Pandy's odds-line on Preferred Plays. Cost of this service is usually $30.00 per month and selections are ready before 9 a.m. on weekdays, and by 10 a.m. on weekends.
Testimonials
Hello again,
Thank you for the detailed response to my question.
I'm happy to report that in 2006 I showed a positive 18% ROI in the
Meadowlands win pools using the Harness Diamond System manual paceline option . On
Tuesday I used the "K" and "L" options at MR, DDX, NFL and
was amazed at the frequency of overlayed exacta combinations in the top 4
picks.
Please let me know when upgrades become available.
Thanks again.

Dear Pandy After reading your interesting articles in American Turf Monthly, I started following your Free Picks on your www.sharphorses.com website and I had several good scores. No one gives out Free Picks like yours, they're outstanding. I did so well that I felt obligated to subscribe to your Sharphorses Selection Service, which I did in December (of 2006). I have to say that I'm amazed at the quality and consistency of your selections. In December you gave out horses at various tracks all over the country, and almost every one of your selections either won easily or finished 2nd. And the times when your top pick didn't run 1st or 2nd your other picks usually came in for an exacta or trifecta box. I don't understand how you do it. How can you pick horses at Aqueduct, Hawthorne, Laurel, Santa Anita, Philadelphia, and they go wire to wire by open lengths? What's your secret? Whatever it is, keep it up! Your Happy Customer, Bill Perzik Dear Bill, Thanks for the kind words, I'm going to use your letter as a testimonial. Although I follow N.Y. and So. Cal. racing closely, I use several of my handicapping systems to search for prime spot plays at certain tracks that I like. Most of these out-of-town plays are horses that have either a strong pace or class advantage. At tracks like Hawthorne, Laurel, and Philadelphia, for instance, you have to bet on horses that race close to the pace and if your horse has an early-speed advantage you are often home free. My Pro Simulcast and Diamond Systems help me spot these live plays rather quickly. Pandy
Hi Bob,
I just had to write to you and tell you
something that I think you will enjoy hearing. I received your Power
Form Method on Monday and read it over Monday evening. I thought I was
going to have the time to handicap the full card from Aqueduct for today, but
due to work and some other things I had to do, I only had time to apply the
method to the first 2 races at Aqueduct today. I did these last night.
I may have some questions in the future, so I hope you don't mind.
Anyway, back to today's card. I came up with #2 Perfect Colony with 428
points, #7 Previous Selection with 420 points and #4 Ms Banker with 420 points
as my top 3. I noticed that #1 Bankers Heiress had the highest KICK
rating with a 98, which was high by 6 points. So, since you said that
KICK is very important and can be used as a stand alone number for longshot
winners, I decided to box the 1,2,7 in exactas and tri's. I also played
the 1, Banker's Heiress to win since she went off at over 40-1 and offered the
most value by far and I am not a chalk player. I could not believe my
eyes when Banker's Heiress came wide into the stretch and closed fastest of
all to win by 2 widening lengths to pay $83.50 for every $2 ticket. The
exacta came back 1-7 for $232 and the tri came back 1-7-2 for $719. To
add icing on the cake, I also hit the Double for $238. What a start!
I know it is only 2 races, but it could not have started out any better.
See the chart for the 1st race below.
Thanks for a great method.

Hi Bob, Just wanted to let you know that I puchased your new Power Form system and after the first week, I'm pretty excited. This is the best system I've tried in a long time. Not only are the Power Form ratings working well, but like you say in the booklet, your Kick Rating can be used as a stand-alone number. I have charts from several years and I went over hundreds of races from 2001 from Santa Anita. The top Kick rating picked an amazing amount of longshot winners, even $40.00 horses! I'm impressed! I ran the Diamond System for Oaklawn on option T yesterday.
The
first race winner was picked on top with a 10 point pace
advantage and had won at Oaklawn in the past. Paid $57.00 to win!
Speed is very good at this track. Has a short stretch when
going a mile just like Keeneland.

Dear Bob
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your article Opening
the Handicapping Hologram in the most recent American Turf Monthly.
I had already printed out BRISnet pp's for Santa Anita and
Fair Grounds for last Saturday, and tried applying your pace-adjusted speed
figures on some of the races. In addition, I tried the same technique on
turf races by adjusting the speed figures by comparing late pace to the pars.
And I boldly adjusted 3yo routes, again by comparing late pace to pars and
adjusting the speed figs accordingly.
And what a day I had!
I went out to the Keeneland simulcasts mostly to play SA,
but just had to take a shot at the All-Stakes Pick-4 the Fair Grounds was
offering. Damned if I didn't hit it, to the tune of $5132.20. I'm
normally a Pick-3 player, and if I'd bothered with the Pick-3 on the first
three legs of the Pick-4, I'd have hit for another $2500. Might even
have had it twice.
Now, don't get a swelled head. Your article deserves
a good chunk of the credit, but there's another guy who deserves a pat on the
back. Somewhere in your webpage writings I came across a mention of
Michael Pizzola's Handicapping Magic book. I picked it up this
past summer and am a true convert. I got the impression you were pretty
impressed with it, too. That book's improved my handicapping a whole
lot.
So, thank you, Bob, for setting me on a new path. I'm
sure I'll be trying your speed figure adjustment theory for a long time.

Dear Mr. Pandolfo,
I recently read with great interest,
your excellent article, in the February issue of ATM on speed, pace and
acceleration.I tried it out at Santa Annita on Saturday the 22nd and it helped
me hit one pick 3 and 2 small $1.00 trifectas so I was happy. It seemed that
speed was not holding up real well because several races were won by closer's.
What kind of adjustment should be made in a case like this.
Also, another excellent article you
wrote was in the ATM January, 02 issue on Modern Speed Handicapping explaining
how to use the Beyer numbers and Speed Rating Spread to analyze a Race.I have
always had trouble determing whether the Favorite is vulnerable or a False
Favorite or not. Using the Beyer numbers and following your explanations has
helped me alot on the Favorite and it has really helped me do a much better
job identifying the contenders.
The question I have for you is since
both methods relate to speed and both identify the Top 5 or 6 Contenders, and
are pretty easy to use which method is probably best for a Recreational
player (3 days a week) like myself to use. Also I would like to sign up
for your selections for the rest of January and February.
Thank You
Roger Imsdahl
Bob
I am just amazed at your best bets.
Sat night at the Meadowlands I didnt have the guts to bet Patch Adams N
($27.80). I will never doubt you againl I did bet the 9 horse ($10.20)
you picked in the last race. I dont know how you do it but I know you are the
best handicapper on the internet (including thoroughbred cappers) Thanks
Rick
